farewell to friends

Walmart Sunnies/Top, Mother's closet/Joe Fresh Skirt/ Lululemon Bag/Thrifted Boots

I took some quick shots before heading out to a missionary farewell at church. I tucked in an oversized shirt from my mother's closet into a black pencil skirt. I thought it was kind of kimono inspired and I always like tucking in something loose into something more fitted because it is more flattering...lol. You will see that I wear a lot of clothes from my mom's closet. She has kept clothes since the 80's, so you can imagine how fun it would be to look through.

Missionaries that serve for our church serve their missions from one and a half to two years and most of them are from a another country. It sure is hard to say goodbye to friends you have grown to love.

Go Canada it's your birthday

Pants Mother's Closet/Everthing else thrifted

My family and I celebrated Canada Day. It was a beautiful day with so many happenings. Winnipeg is a fun city...trust me, it is...lol. There is so much culture and beauty. We took a trip to the Mint where all the money making happens. It was cool to see and enjoy the different festivities going on. We figured we should check it out since it was free! We also got to check out the Osbourne Village Street Festival. There were a lot of people, food vendors, live music, yoga lessons and of course, the festival market. I love Canada and am proud to be Canadian. I am especially grateful that we are free to choose our own faith. Happy Birthday Canada!

disco fever

                                                                      Dress: Mother's closet

                                                         Wetseal Jacket/ Forever 21 Headband

I went to a retro-themed wedding social with my sisters and my brother-in-law. It was fun to get our "groove on" and play dress up. The DJ did a throwback mix of songs going through the decades from Ghost Busters to Boys II Men to Stevie Wonder. It was a fun night.
FYI: I just discovered that socials are a Manitoba-grown concept. They are functions to fundraise for weddings or charities.

DIY: Old Navy sequins top altered into a skirt

Here are some photos from a shoot taken by my big sister. My sister is an aspiring photographer, so why not take photos of your younger sis for practice? It's fun for both sides :) And yes...these photos are a little outdated (hence the Christmas tree...lol), but I thought I'd share anyway. My sister and sister-in-law have a blog of their photography. Check it out! Cardona Photography
